Accessibility Statement
1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
Join Together Northern Nevada is committed to ensuring that jtnn.org is accessible to all visitors, including people with disabilities. As a substance misuse prevention coalition, our ability to reach every member of Washoe County — including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive technology — is core to our mission, not a separate consideration.
JTNN’s programming is supported in part by federal funding passed through the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health, including the SAPT Block Grant administered by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). As a recipient of HHS-sourced federal financial assistance, JTNN’s programs and digital content are subject to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, which prohibits disability-based discrimination by federal funding recipients and requires that digital content meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA.
We use WCAG 2.1 Level AA as the technical standard for this Site.
2. Conformance Status

“Partially conforms” means that some parts of the Site do not yet fully meet the standard, most often due to third-party content we do not control (see Section 4). This status reflects both automated testing (e.g., axe, Lighthouse) and manual testing with assistive technology, described in Section 5, rather than a completed third-party accessibility audit.
3. Accessibility Features
We have built the Site with the following features, organized by the four WCAG principles:
Perceivable
- Alt text on informational images
- Sufficient color contrast between text and background
- Text that can be resized without loss of content or function
- Captions provided on JTNN-produced videos where available
Operable
- Keyboard navigation throughout the Site
- Visible focus indicators on interactive elements
- Skip-to-content link for keyboard and screen reader users
- No content that flashes or flickers in a way known to trigger seizures
Understandable
- Consistent navigation and page layout across the Site
- Clear labels on form fields (contact form, newsletter signup)
- Plain-language content, appropriate given our public health education mission
Robust
- Semantic HTML and ARIA landmarks to support screen readers
- Code tested across current browsers and assistive technologies (Section 5)
4. Known Limitations
Some content on the Site is hosted or controlled by third parties, whose accessibility we cannot fully guarantee. We flag these below along with alternatives where one exists.
YouTube Embedded Videos
The Site embeds and links to educational videos hosted on YouTube. Caption accuracy depends on YouTube’s auto-captioning or the original uploader, and is not fully within JTNN’s control. If you need a transcript of a specific video, contact us using Section 6.
Microsoft Forms Quizzes and Applications
Educational quizzes on our Resources page are hosted on Microsoft Forms, not on jtnn.org, and are governed by Microsoft’s own accessibility conformance. If you encounter a barrier using one of these quizzes, contact us and we can provide the content in an alternative format.
PayPal Donation Page
Donations are processed entirely through PayPal’s hosted donation page, which operates under PayPal’s own accessibility standards. If you experience difficulty donating online, you can donate by mail (505 S. Arlington Ave., Suite 110, Reno, NV 89509) or call our office at (775) 324-7557 to arrange another method.
PDF Resource Downloads
Our Resources and Evaluation and Data pages link to a large library of PDFs, including fact sheets and historical community assessment reports dating back to the early 2000s. Older PDFs in particular may not be fully tagged for screen readers. We are working to prioritize remediation of our most-used documents. If you need an accessible version of a specific PDF, contact us using Section 6 and we will provide one.
Whova Event Registration
Registration for certain JTNN events (such as the Washoe County Prevention Conference) is handled through Whova, a third-party event platform with its own accessibility standards. If you have difficulty registering online, call our office at (775) 324-7557 and we will register you directly.
Social Media Embeds
Links and embedded content from Facebook, Instagram, and X/Twitter are governed by each platform’s own accessibility practices, which JTNN does not control.
5. Assistive Technology Compatibility
This website was tested using a combination of automated tools and manual testing with the following assistive technology and browser combinations:
- NVDA screen reader with Google Chrome (Windows)
- VoiceOver screen reader with Safari (macOS and iOS)
- Keyboard-only navigation (no mouse) across major page types
- Browser zoom at 200% across major desktop browsers
We aim for compatibility with assistive technologies that use current web standards. Very old or non-standard browser/assistive technology combinations may not render all content optimally. We recommend keeping your browser and assistive technology up to date for the best experience.
6. Feedback and Accessibility Requests
We welcome feedback on the accessibility of jtnn.org. If you encounter a barrier, have difficulty accessing any content, or would like information in an alternative format, please contact us. We take accessibility feedback seriously and aim to respond within 5 business days.

7. Our Ongoing Commitment
Accessibility is an ongoing effort rather than a one-time fix. We plan to:
- Periodically re-test the Site as content and features are added
- Prioritize remediation of our older PDF resource library
- Consider accessibility in the selection of any future third-party tools or platforms
- Train staff who publish content to the Site on basic accessibility practices
