What’s a coalition
Collaboration between groups in the community.
JTNN brings residents, agencies, businesses, and local government together to build a safer, healthier, drug-free community. Each partner maintains its own identity while contributing to a coordinated effort to identify local substance use challenges, measure their impact, and develop effective prevention strategies. We support this shared work through community assessment, planning, information, grant funding, and administration, helping partners turn local knowledge into meaningful action.
Our history
In 1995, a group of concerned citizens started an informal coalition focusing on how to address the growing substance misuse problem in Washoe County. Original conversations and plans centered around treatment services and eventually expanded to include prevention. In 1998, the group chose the name Join Together Northern Nevada (JTNN) and incorporated as a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization. Join Together Northern Nevada serves the Washoe County Regional Behavioral Health Policy Board.

Our mission is to create a healthy drug-free community by building successful partnerships to support prevention education and outreach.
Who we help
Prevention that works.
JTNN offers education in prevention to professionals, community members, and youth in Washoe County. We are the subject matter experts, certified under the Nevada Certification Board, and we utilize the Strategic Prevention Framework and CSAP strategies to build a healthier community.

Who benefits
A two-way partnership.
We serve students, families, educators, employers, and community agencies across Washoe County. We also depend on them. Coalitions work because organizations combine their reach: schools open their classrooms, agencies share their expertise, and businesses and residents lend their support. Join Together Northern Nevada is a part of the Nevada Statewide Coalition Partnership (NSCP). NSCP is a statewide coalition dedicated to uniting efforts across Nevada to address behavioral health, foster trauma-informed communities, and empower individuals to thrive.
